So excited to announce that we will be offering fresh bread through the wonderful CSA at Hocus Pocus Farm this year! Bread shares will be available for their Cumberland members and will cost $100 for 18 weeks. If you've always wanted to join a CSA now is the perfect opportunity. It's a win-win: Support a network of young RI Farmers and eat healthier and closer to home for it! Get your week's worth of produce, meat, eggs and now bread in one go. For more info see their CSA page.
The farm and bake shoppe will be closed from Friday March 10 - Sunday March 12. We will be present at the Newport Irish Parade, come down and see us!
We are excited to announce that we have acquired more farm!
As many of you know, this last year we've been working towards purchasing a piece of raw land to expand our business. We were lucky enough to find a piece of land directly behind our existing business, and with the help and support of so many people, we were able to make this dream into a reality. We will now be able to grow even more fresh vegetables, fruits and forestry products, and have many exciting plans for the future. We are incredibly grateful to the community for helping us get to this point. It's so amazing that we were able to find a place in our hometown to grow.
Thank you to our amazing customers who have supported our endeavors and helped our business grow over the past six years and get to where we are.
We have an Instagram! Follow us, and we promise to post at least three or four other farm- or food-related subjects between grumpy cat pictures (which, let's face it, are why we got in on Instagram, and probably why you did too).
If you've noticed a drop in activity on our Facebook page lately, it's not you imagining things. We're having technical problems! Please stand by while we sort through it.
We had a great time at our First Annual Spring Fling Festival! Thanks to everybody who came out to: Meet the goats, sheep, chickens and others; tour the greenhouse and learn about aquaponics; plant a flower in a pot you decorated yourself; get your soil tested; taste some goodies made with ingredients grown right on the farm; groove to a wicked jam; ride a pony; test your banter against a real live pirate; catch a lily pad and win a prize; or just get outside!
And an extra special thanks to all our friends and family who bravely donned the green shirt and volunteered to help things run. We [actually] couldn't have done it without you!
See you next year! Or better yet, sooner....
We are super excited to tell you all that we have been awarded a LASA (Local Agriculture and Seafood Act) grant to expand our aquaponic greenhouse. This expansion will not only give us one heck of a production boost - we're looking at a factor of six to eight - but also sufficient facilities for meaningful outreach programs. Construction will begin shortly and we should have an operational facility by the end of the summer. Stay tuned!
