All that lovey-dovey stuff is all well and good, but leave it for another day. Now is the time to celebrate with all the other people who light up your life, so grab your besties, don your most outrageously pink geddups and take yourselves out for tea. You and your "gals" will enjoy a full tea and luncheon while enjoying bottomless tea in fancy cups. Followed by stacks of delicious desserts.
Besties can't make it? Treat yourself and come alone. We'll seat you with some new friends!
Tickets can be purchased in person by cash or check during our normal hours, or right here online! Please note that if purchasing online a per-ticket processing fee will apply.
Tickets for this event are non-refundable. In the event we have to cancel due to weather, we will announce a new date.
Step back in time to 17th-century New England, where life was both radically different and surprisingly familiar. In this immersive experience, discover the dynamic, rebellious spirit that shaped Rhode Island, a place where things have always marched to the beat of their own drum. Your guide to this fascinating journey will be none other than Roger Williams, the founder of Rhode Island, portrayed by John McNiff. McNiff, as Roger Williams, will help you understand the groundbreaking accomplishments that set Rhode Island apart from the rest of the English trans-Atlantic world.
• First English Colony with Religious Freedom: Learn about Rhode Island's pivotal role in establishing complete religious liberty.
• Birthplace of Separation of Church and State: Understand how Roger Williams’ ideals helped lay the foundation for this essential principle in American democracy.
• The People as the Foundation of Political Power: Discover how that separation of Church and State enabled Rhode Island to be the New Worlds first ‘Democracy’, and the first colony to put political power in the hands of its citizens.
After this engaging and thought-provoking portrayal, Roger Williams will then hold an open Q&A session. Ask him anything: about daily life, dealing with the neighbors, the challenges he faced in the so called ‘new world’, the weather, the founding a new colony, his complex relationships with Massachusetts, other English colonies, and the Native inhabitants of this land, as well as his bold vision for the future. Everything is on the table. Come with your questions ready and get ready for a lively conversation with a man who forever changed the course of history.
